Three days: the default plan

One stretch of the boulevard a day, then a day Downtown, so you never double back along the Strip. Times and tickets are in the day blocks.

  1. Day 1: the south Strip: the Welcome sign, Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, then Luxor, Excalibur and New York-New York.
  2. Day 2: the middle Strip, north to south: the Venetian’s canal shops, the LINQ and High Roller, then Bellagio’s fountains.
  3. Day 3: Downtown: the Mob Museum, Fremont Street, a Neon Museum slot from 3pm, then the Canopy shows after 6pm.
  4. Before you fly: book the Neon Museum slot. Book Shark Reef and the wheel once your dates are fixed.
  5. Day order: give Day 2 a weekend for fountains from noon, and Day 3 a first Friday for the Arts District art walk.

Day 1: The south Strip, about US$50

The south Strip runs from the Welcome sign to New York-New York, so the day moves in one direction: north. Shark Reef is the paid anchor, and it is indoors.

  1. Ride the Deuce to the Welcome to LV Sign stop for the photo at the south end of the Strip.
  2. Ride back north to Mandalay Bay and enter Shark Reef at your booked window; last entry is 7pm.
  3. Walk north past Luxor and Excalibur to New York-New York and Park MGM; the Deuce stops at each.
  4. Finish at MGM Grand, the Monorail’s southern end, or take the Deuce back to your hotel.

Good to know

  • Shark Reef is open daily from 10am to 8pm, so it is the day’s midday shelter from the heat.
  • Buy the three-day Deuce pass at a stop’s ticket machine; the timetable says the machines take cash only.

Timed entry

A one-hour entry window at the lower ticket price; book it once the day is fixed.

Anytime entry

Valid any time before the 7pm last entry, at a higher price; suits an arrival day when flights slip.

Prices checked 19 Sep 2026 · per person, tickets and transport, excluding accommodation

Day 2: The middle Strip, about US$25

Start at the Venetian, the north end of this stretch, and finish at Bellagio. The canal shops open at 10am, the wheel at noon, and the fountains at 3pm on weekdays.

  1. Take the Deuce to the Venetian and walk the Grand Canal Shoppes from 10am.
  2. Walk south to the LINQ Promenade for lunch, then ride the High Roller; it opens at noon every day.
  3. Continue south past Caesars Palace to Bellagio and pick a spot by the lake.
  4. End at the fountains; the matrix in the facts block gives the weekday and weekend start times.

Good to know

  • The canal shops close at 9pm Sunday to Thursday and at 10pm Friday and Saturday.
  • The wheel ticket sold here has no free cancellation, so book it once your dates are fixed.

On your own

Only the wheel needs a ticket: Deuce to the Venetian, then walk south.

With a guide

A guided Strip walk of two to three hours meets inside the Grand Canal Shoppes and replaces the self-guided stretch.

Day 3: Downtown, about US$65

Downtown works best indoors first and outside later: the Mob Museum in the morning, a Neon Museum slot from 3pm, then Fremont Street after dark.

  1. Take the Deuce to the Mob Museum stop on Stewart Avenue and go in when it opens at 9am.
  2. Walk to Fremont Street Experience, five blocks under the Canopy, and stay for lunch.
  3. Take a short ride to the Neon Museum on Las Vegas Boulevard North for a slot from 3pm.
  4. Return for the Canopy shows on the hour from 6pm and free live concerts on three stages.
  5. On the first Friday of a month, swap the Neon slot for the Arts District art walk, 5pm to 11pm.

Good to know

  • The Neon Museum is open 365 days a year, but tickets are released 60 days ahead and slots sell out.
  • Its guided tours do not run above 100°F and general admission closes above 105°F, so take an evening slot in summer.
  • A free shuttle serves First Friday from the city garage at 500 S. Main St, from 3pm to midnight.

On your own

Only the two museum tickets need booking; the Canopy, concerts and art walk are free.

With a guide

A two-hour guided walk of Fremont Street and Downtown leaves at 11am or 2:30pm and adds the history.

If you have two days

Drop Day 1 and keep the middle Strip and Downtown, the two days built around fixed-time free shows.

  1. Day 1: the middle Strip exactly as Day 2, ending at the fountains.
  2. Day 2: Downtown exactly as Day 3, with the Neon slot or the first-Friday art walk.
  3. If you land late, spend the first evening at the fountains, which run every 15 minutes until midnight.

If you have a fourth day

A fourth day is a list, not a route. Pick one, or swap it for Day 1 if you would rather trade resorts for desert.

Good to know

  • North Strip: the Monorail runs from MGM Grand to SAHARA along the east side and passes the Sphere.
  • Red Rock Canyon: a 13-mile scenic loop 30 minutes west; every visit from 1 October to 31 May needs a timed-entry reservation.
  • The Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam are full-day trips with their own guide, covered on the day-trips guide.

Facts that shape the trip

Nothing on this plan shuts for a whole weekday. What moves is opening and closing time, so the matrix shows hours by day and the points cover fares and booking.

Good to know

  • The Deuce runs all night: every 10 to 15 minutes from 7am to 1am. A three-day pass costs US$20, against US$8 for 24 hours.
  • The Monorail costs US$6 a ride and stops at midnight on Mondays and on posted early-closure nights; leave the last ride home to the Deuce.
  • Heat sets the order: July’s normal high is 104.5°F against 58.5°F in January, so keep outdoor stops early or late.

Fixed slot

The Neon Museum, Shark Reef’s timed ticket and Red Rock in season need a set slot; book them first.

Any time

The fountains, the Canopy and the Deuce need no slot; the Mob Museum still encourages booking online.

Where a guided tour earns its money, and where it does not

A guide earns its fee on the Strip walk, where the route is the product, and on Downtown’s history. Skip one for the fountains, the Canopy and the Deuce, which cost nothing extra to enjoy.

Mubboo compares flights and tours and may earn a commission when a traveller uses a partner link. Booking and payment happen with the provider.

Questions people ask

Is three days enough for Las Vegas?

Yes for the Strip and Downtown, as planned here. A fourth day buys the north Strip or Red Rock, and the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam each need a full day.

Do I need a car on this plan?

No. The Deuce runs around the clock and serves Mandalay Bay, the Venetian and Downtown. Red Rock is the exception: public transport does not reach it.

Which day should fall on a weekend?

Day 2. The fountains start at noon on Saturday and Sunday instead of 3pm, and the canal shops stay open until 10pm on Friday and Saturday.

What if it is too hot to walk?

Keep Shark Reef, the museums and the canal shops for midday and move outdoor stops to morning or after dark. The Neon Museum’s general admission closes above 105°F, so book an evening slot in summer.

Is a Monorail pass worth buying?

Rarely on this plan. It runs only along the east side of the Strip, and the Deuce reaches every stop here. It is quick for the north end.

What should I book first?

The Neon Museum: its tickets are released 60 days ahead and sell out. Red Rock needs a timed-entry reservation from 1 October to 31 May, and the wheel has no free cancellation.
