CHOOSE THE TRIP BEFORE THE TICKET
Where do you want to spend your time?
Start with the experience you want most. These areas offer different reasons to travel; you do not need to fit them all into one itinerary.

Ubud’s living rice landscapes and two distinct coasts
Bali
The province joins inland Ubud and its rice terraces to western surf beaches, Sanur’s east-facing shore and a southern peninsula. The water temples and working subak system are more than a scenic rice-field backdrop. Choose a base before selecting a distant island or temple activity.
Before you book
DPS is an arrival gateway, not a promise that Ubud, Uluwatu and Nusa Penida fit one easy day. Separate the coast and inland days.

Living Javanese culture and separate Borobudur access
Yogyakarta
The palace city supports traditional arts, craft and neighbourhood visits. Borobudur stands in nearby Central Java and has distinct grounds and temple-top ticket products. Confirm the exact tier of access rather than assuming one city tour includes climbing the monument.
Before you book
This is a Java stay with an onward transfer from Bali. Do not count Borobudur as a casual outing from a Bali beach hotel.

Capital galleries and the historic city
Jakarta
Jakarta’s scale rewards a deliberate urban stay. The National Gallery has a changing exhibition programme and a separate permanent display, while the historic Kota Tua district offers a different walk. Check the exhibition day and your actual neighbourhood before buying a guided product.
Before you book
A capital city museum day is a different trip from an island boat or volcano walk; allow ground transfer time rather than treating it as a transit stop.

A separate island base for Sasak culture and Gili crossings
Lombok
Lombok lies east of Bali and has its own beaches, interior and departure ports for the Gili Islands. The public Padangbai–Lembar ferry is one connection from Bali; faster boats and onward Gili transfers use different terminals and conditions.
Before you book
An advertised “Gili” trip may depart Bali or Lombok. Select the island base and the exact port before choosing a boat product.

Flores gateway to protected island and marine visits
Labuan Bajo and Komodo
Labuan Bajo is the western Flores port for trips into Komodo National Park. UNESCO recognises the park for its island ecosystems and Komodo dragon habitat. Boat itineraries vary by island, duration, guide and conservation rules.
Before you book
The park is not reached as an ordinary Bali shore excursion. Plan a separate Flores base and inspect exactly which islands the boat visits.

A volcanic landscape with its own park entry
East Java and Bromo
The Bromo Tengger Semeru area makes East Java a mountain-oriented stay. The park manages visitor access and online entry separately from transport or a jeep activity. Choose the actual departure town and park admission before promising a sunrise viewpoint.
Before you book
The volcano is not adjacent to Yogyakarta or Bali. Weather, park access and overnight positioning matter more than a generic Java tour title.

Country profile
Indonesia country profile
Choose a region, not one Indonesia circuit
Bali, Java, Lombok and Flores are distinct island decisions. The six collections here are separate bases and departure geographies.
Sources →Subak is a living water system
The Bali World Heritage landscape comprises working rice terraces and water temples across five components, not one photogenic field.
Sources →Yogyakarta and Borobudur require different days
Borobudur is in Central Java, while Yogyakarta is a city base with its own palace, arts and neighbourhood life.
Sources →Komodo is a protected park
A Labuan Bajo boat may include different islands; a park visit has conservation and itinerary scope beyond a photograph of the dragon.
Sources →Jakarta’s gallery is a separate city visit
The National Gallery sets visitor hours and changing exhibition access; check the day before arranging a capital museum plan.
Sources →Lombok has its own arrival ports
A Bali–Lombok ferry and an island boat to the Gilis solve different transport legs. Read the operator’s actual port.
Sources →Bromo access is separately controlled
The national park has online visitor arrangements. A jeep or viewpoint product needs its own admission scope checked.
Sources →Public holidays can change logistics
Nyepi in Bali and national holiday periods require current operator checks, especially for flights, boats and admission.

Indonesia · Trip plans
These are our suggested routes, with travel days included. Choose the pace that suits you; none promises to cover the entire country.

7 days: one Bali base and a second shore
Keep the first week on one island and let geography decide the hotel changes.
- Days 1–3 · Ubud: use a full day for the palace and Monkey Forest, and another for a chosen subak landscape; keep arrival for the transfer.
- Day 4 · Move to Sanur or the southwest coast: treat the transfer and check-in as their own leg.
- Days 5–7 · Coast: choose a shore day, one south-peninsula temple outing or a separate Nusa Penida crossing, and a flexible departure day.
The trade-off
This week leaves Java, Lombok and Komodo for separate trips. Adding them would turn the island days into airport and pier days.

This collection covers Bali activities, not flights, hotels or the full cross-island route.

14 days: Bali and Yogyakarta
Add a Java heritage stay without making a Bali island crossing stand in for the archipelago.
- Days 1–6 · Bali: split Ubud and a coastal base, with an inland landscape day, a temple choice and one uncommitted weather day.
- Day 7 · Fly or transfer to Yogyakarta: keep any timed activity off the arrival day.
- Days 8–12 · Yogyakarta: give the city’s arts and palace setting their own time; visit Borobudur on a separately planned day with its actual access tier.
- Days 13–14 · Leave room for the final connection and a last city walk rather than a distant sightseeing promise.
The trade-off
Borobudur lies outside the city and its ticket formats vary. This route omits Lombok and Flores instead of pretending another domestic connection is free.
What Bali costs: One Day in Bali: Three Ubud Plans → · Bali Itinerary: 2–4 Days, Ubud to Uluwatu →
This collection covers Yogyakarta activities, not flights, hotels or the full cross-island route.

21 days: Bali, Java and a Flores finish
Three weeks allow three distinct bases with transfer days protected.
- Days 1–7 · Bali: use Ubud and one coast base for subak landscapes, a shore day and a south-peninsula choice.
- Day 8 · Move to Yogyakarta, without a same-day Borobudur booking.
- Days 9–13 · Yogyakarta: visit the living city and reserve a separate monument day using the chosen access tier.
- Day 14 · Fly onward to Labuan Bajo and prepare for a park boat itinerary.
- Days 15–19 · Flores and Komodo: select a boat by named islands, park rules and conditions; leave a buffer for the return.
- Days 20–21 · Complete the domestic connection and international departure without assuming a protected-island boat runs on the last morning.
The trade-off
This route skips Jakarta, Lombok and East Java. Each of those deserves its own additional base rather than an extra stop in a crowded day.

Turn six regions into a workable route
These are Mubboo planning judgments grounded in the cited destination and venue sources, not traveller reviews or sales rankings.
Choose heritage versus coast days consciously
A Bali shore day, Borobudur access and a Komodo boat are three distinct purchases and geographies. Keep each in its own base.
Sources →Leave cross-island transfer days free
Every extra base involves a domestic flight or port connection and ground leg. A short tour cannot remove the check-in or weather risk.
Sources →Protect a water-day buffer
Boats from Bali or Labuan Bajo can change with conditions. A flexible day near the relevant port makes more sense than a last-day crossing.
Sources →Read the exact inclusion
Country inventory mixes admission, guided walks and multi-stop transport. Match the city, starting port and park ticket to the product option.

Planning Indonesia activities: FAQs
Is Bali the same destination as Indonesia?
Bali is one province and island group within Indonesia. This guide compares six separate regions; use the Bali guide for the island’s own planning.
Can I visit Komodo on a normal Bali day trip?
Plan a Labuan Bajo base for a park boat, then choose the named islands and return conditions. It is not a simple local Bali shore outing.
Does a Yogyakarta ticket include Borobudur temple-top access?
Only when the specific ticket option names that tier. The surrounding grounds and the monument structure have different access products.
Should I choose Bali or Lombok?
Choose Bali for the Ubud and coastal combination in this guide; choose Lombok for a separate island stay and Gili access. Compare your actual arrival port.
How do I compare Komodo boat activities?
Read the departure port, islands, park admission, guide arrangements and return day. Boat labels alone do not guarantee the same itinerary.
Is Bromo an easy stop between Bali and Jakarta?
It needs an East Java base and a separately checked park entry. Protect an overnight or local start rather than inserting it into a flight day.
