Where to book each kind of Canada experience

Canada’s bookable experiences sit around a handful of bases that are far apart. For each base, the table gives what it is known for, the journey from Toronto (a VIA Rail train in Ontario and Quebec, an Air Canada flight to the Rockies and the Pacific), and how many VIA Rail departures run a week.

Day trip from Toronto, or a stay of its own?

  • Niagara Falls, about two hours by VIA Rail: a day trip from Toronto works. With one VIA Rail departure a day, a tour that includes the transport from Toronto leaves more time at the falls.
  • Ottawa at about four and a half hours and Montreal at just over five: a same-day return means nine to more than ten hours on trains. We would stay at least one night, and book tours that start in the city.
  • Quebec City, nine hours forty at best with a change in Montréal: not a trip from Toronto. We pair it with a Montreal stay and book Old Town tours from Quebec City itself.
  • Calgary for Banff at four hours twelve and Vancouver at four hours fifty, nonstop: each is a separate leg by air. We treat the Rockies and the Pacific coast as their own stays and book mountain or harbour tours there, not from Toronto.

VIA Rail times are average journey times, and the Quebec City time is the quickest connection listed; Air Canada times are the fastest scheduled nonstop flights on one September day. A tour’s meeting point may not be at the station or the airport, so check it before booking the journey.

Holidays in 2026 that change what you can book

The Canada Revenue Agency lists the national holidays below and notes that provinces and territories keep holidays of their own. Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day on 24 June applies only in Quebec, which matters for Montreal and Quebec City; the Civic Holiday on 3 August applies outside Quebec and is B.C. Day in British Columbia, where Family Day falls in February and Easter Monday and Boxing Day are not statutory holidays. Canada Day, Wednesday 1 July, is on both lists with no regional exception, so it is the date we would check first. Our advice: check the opening hours for your date before booking any date on this list.

  • Thursday 1 January · New Year’s Day
  • Monday 16 February · Family Day (British Columbia)
  • Friday 3 April · Good Friday
  • Monday 6 April · Easter Monday
  • Monday 18 May · Victoria Day
  • Wednesday 24 June · Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day (Quebec only)
  • Wednesday 1 July · Canada Day
  • Monday 3 August · Civic Holiday (outside Quebec; B.C. Day in British Columbia)
  • Monday 7 September · Labour Day
  • Wednesday 30 September · National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
  • Monday 12 October · Thanksgiving Day
  • Wednesday 11 November · Remembrance Day
  • Friday 25 December · Christmas Day
  • Saturday 26 December · Boxing Day

Planning Canada activities: FAQs

Are Canada activities ranked as Mubboo recommendations?

No. The live shelf is commercial discovery and may use provider recommendation signals. Mubboo’s editorial planning remains independent of commission, price, review count and availability.

Why do the regional shelves use different IDs?

The booking platform maps Canada and each regional destination separately. We use reviewed IDs for Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Quebec City, Banff and Niagara Falls so a regional shelf is not a keyword-only guess.

Do I choose a tour date on Mubboo?

No. Discovery is date-free here. Choose the product, then confirm the current date, inclusions, availability and cancellation terms on the booking platform.

What should I compare for a falls or glacier tour?

Check the exact named viewpoint, boat or gondola access, language, group format and meeting point. “Best views” does not mean every tour reaches the same vantage point.

Can one activity book the full Canada itinerary?

Not unless the listing explicitly says so. Mubboo’s itineraries are planning frameworks; each linked collection covers only its stated region or trip segment.

Are Toronto CityPASS-style attraction bundles sold through Mubboo?

No. Mubboo links to individual activity listings and to the operator’s own bundle information separately; compare which specific attractions a bundle includes against buying each ticket on its own before deciding.

Does a Niagara Falls boat tour run in winter?

The Voyage to the Falls boat tour operates close to year-round, though December sailings depend on weather. Always confirm the current season’s operating dates before booking a winter visit.

Should I book Niagara Falls activities before or after arriving in Toronto?

Book ahead for a summer weekend, when GO Train seats and popular Niagara Parks time slots sell out. A weekday or off-season visit generally leaves more room to decide once you have already arrived in Toronto.
