Bali in 2, 3 or 4 Days: Ubud, Uluwatu and an Island Option

Three days: keep each direction separate

Keep Ubud, the southwestern Bukit Peninsula and Sanur on separate days. This is our short-stay sequence because a cross-island loop would spend the daylight you came for in a vehicle.

1. Day 1: Ubud centre, Monkey Forest and a single rice-terrace stop to the north.
2. Day 2: one Bukit beach or viewpoint, then Uluwatu Temple and its evening Kecak performance.
3. Day 3: Sanur coast at an unhurried pace; do not insert a boat crossing.
4. Book the timed Kecak option first; keep the Ubud and Sanur order flexible.

Day 1: Ubud centre and one rice-terrace stop

Start in central Ubud rather than chasing several distant waterfalls. Add Tegallalang to the north only if your transfer is arranged. It is a separate landscape from UNESCO-listed Jatiluwih.

1. Walk Ubud centre before moving to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary.
2. Follow the sanctuary rules around semi-wild macaques and keep loose belongings secure.
3. Continue north to Tegallalang only if the remaining daylight and return transport work.
4. Return to your base instead of adding a second distant temple or waterfall.

Day 2: Bukit coast and Kecak about IDR 650,000

Choose one Bukit shore stop, then leave the late afternoon for Uluwatu Temple. Both reviewed options include temple entry, the first Kecak show and a guide; neither promises a hotel transfer.

1. Choose one beach or viewpoint on the Bukit Peninsula instead of zigzagging across the south.
2. Reach Uluwatu Temple with time to walk the cliff path before the performance.
3. Use the reviewed combined ticket for temple entry and Kecak; confirm your session and meeting instructions.
4. Return directly after the show rather than planning another cross-island stop.

Day 3: leave room for Sanur

Sanur is the low-transfer day after two outward journeys. Walk the eastern shore and choose beach time over another checklist. The fast-boat port becomes useful only if you add a fourth day.

1. Start along the Sanur shore while the day is cool.
2. Choose one section of beach and a local meal rather than switching coasts.
3. Locate the port if your fourth day is Nusa Penida, then confirm the next day’s boat details.
4. Keep the evening free before an onward flight or early boat.

If you have only two full days

Keep one inland day and one south-coast day. Dropping Sanur is a cleaner cut than putting Ubud, Uluwatu and a ferry into two days.

1. Day 1: Ubud centre and Monkey Forest; add one rice-terrace stop only with reliable transport.
2. Day 2: choose one Bukit stop and finish at Uluwatu for Kecak.
3. Keep the Sanur and Nusa Penida crossing for a longer stay.

Fourth day: Nusa Penida boat about IDR 375,000

The extra day can carry a Nusa Penida crossing from Sanur. Book a return sailing before adding an island route; the boat fare does not include island transport or attractions.

1. Confirm the Sanur departure and Nusa Penida return on the same date.
2. Allow check-in and onward island transport before choosing viewpoints or snorkeling.
3. Choose either a reviewed arranged day trip or a separately booked boat and island driver.
4. Return to Sanur that evening; keep a buffer before any onward flight.

The island’s tourism levy, an evening show and a weather-sensitive boat are separate decisions. Fix dates and transport before turning this plan into reservations.
