Live check just now: Rijksmuseum admission + one-hour canal cruise from US$44.05
Find your Amsterdam experience

Start with two tickets, then set the order
The Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum stand beside each other on Museumplein. One reviewed package pairs Rijksmuseum admission with a one-hour canal cruise, leaving only the Van Gogh Museum to book separately.
- Choose a day when both museums still have start times free.
- Reserve the Rijksmuseum plus cruise package, then Van Gogh Museum entry for a later slot.
- Arrange the included cruise departure after both museum slots.
Two reviewed tickets
Covers all three stops without paying for a second cruise.
No matching slots
Move to another day before you buy; both reviewed tickets are final sale.
Museumplein first, canals last
Keep the two museums together on Museumplein. The Rijksmuseum closes earliest of the three stops, so it goes first, and the package still asks you to arrange a cruise departure rather than board on arrival.
- Morning: enter the Rijksmuseum at your booked start time; it stops serving visitors at 5pm.
- Early afternoon: cross Museumplein to the Van Gogh Museum, open until 6pm and until 9pm on most Fridays.
- Late afternoon or evening: use the included one-hour cruise at your reserved departure.
- Allow travel time from Museumplein to the cruise boarding point named on the voucher.
Good to know
- A Friday start is the only way to keep the Van Gogh Museum open into the evening, and three Fridays a year drop that late closing
- The Stedelijk Museum, the third Museumplein museum, runs 10am to 6pm every day of the year if you want a fourth stop
- Visitors aged 18 and under enter both the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum free
- Check the package voucher for its redemption point and departure instructions before you leave the museums
What the two tickets cost

The total adds the current starting prices of the two reviewed options. The package includes Rijksmuseum admission and one canal cruise; the second ticket adds Van Gogh Museum admission, which covers the permanent collection and the current temporary exhibitions.
| Item | US$ per person | € |
|---|---|---|
| Rijksmuseum admission + one-hour canal cruise | US$45.08 | ≈ €41 |
| Van Gogh Museum admission | US$45.67 | ≈ €41 |
| Total | US$90.75 | ≈ €82 |
Two tickets, three experiences: about US$95 per person from the reviewed starting prices.

Opening days and last admission
None of these four close for a weekday, so the constraint is the clock and the start time rather than the day of the week. The Anne Frank House is the exception that reshapes a trip, because its tickets appear on a fixed weekly schedule.
Good to know
- All Anne Frank House tickets become available every Tuesday at 10am CEST for a visit six weeks later
- Anne Frank House tickets are non-transferable and valid only on the specified date and time, so they cannot absorb a late museum slot
- The Rijksmuseum is the earliest to stop admitting, which is why it opens this route rather than closing it
- The Van Gogh Museum sells no entry without a start time, so a walk-up plan is not a fallback here
| Option | Our verdict |
|---|---|
| Rijksmuseum | Open every day between 9am and 5pm, including all public holidays. A booked start time is required for everyone, Museumkaart holders included, and entry is free at 18 and under. |
| Van Gogh Museum | Open daily 9am to 6pm, and Fridays until 9pm except for 29 May, 31 July and 25 September. Tickets are available online only and every visitor needs a start time to get in. |
| Stedelijk Museum | Open daily 10am to 6pm, 365 days a year including holidays, which makes it the easiest Museumplein stop to add late. |
| Anne Frank House | Open daily 9:00 to 22:00, with published exceptions on dates such as New Year’s Day and King’s Day. Tickets are sold online only and are valid for one named date and time. |
Does an Amsterdam pass beat two tickets
A genuine multi-site pass exists in two forms, and neither covers this page’s route. Both leave out the Van Gogh Museum, so a pass buyer still books that ticket separately. A pass pays off on a different kind of day: several included museums plus city transport.
Good to know
- A Museumkaart still does not skip the Rijksmuseum start time; the booking rule applies to cardholders as well
- The City Card already carries one canal cruise, so pairing it with the reviewed package would buy the same cruise twice
- Count your included museums before buying either card: under three, separate tickets usually win
| Option | Our verdict |
|---|---|
| I amsterdam City Card, Total Experience | Over 70 museums and locations, GVB metro, tram, bus and ferry, one canal cruise and one 24-hour bike rental. Worth it on a three-museum day that also leans on transport. |
| I amsterdam City Card, Explorer | Three, five or seven locations of your choice, valid 5 consecutive days. Public transport is excluded entirely. Suits a slow trip that spreads museums over a week. |
| Museumkaart | More than 500 museums across the Netherlands. Without a Dutch address you get a temporary card, valid 31 days for up to 5 visits, and you must register it within 31 days. |
| This page’s route | Neither card includes the Van Gogh Museum or the Anne Frank House. On a two-museum day with a cruise, the two reviewed tickets are the cleaner buy. |
If the trip has a second day
The Museumplein day fills itself. A second day is where the view, the windmills and the tulip season belong, and each has an opening rule worth knowing before you commit to a date.
Good to know
- A’DAM Lookout keeps admitting until 9pm, so it absorbs an evening that a museum slot cannot
- Zaanse Schans costs nothing to walk around, which makes it the cheapest second day on this list
- Keukenhof runs eight weeks a year, so a trip outside 18 March to 9 May has to skip it
| Option | Our verdict |
|---|---|
| A’DAM Lookout | Open daily 10:00 to 22:00, last admission 9pm, reached by the free F3 ferry towards Buiksloterweg from Amsterdam Central Station every 5 minutes, around the clock. |
| Zaanse Schans | The village and its other locations stay free to enter, and most locations open 9am to 5pm. One paid ticket adds the Zaans Museum, the Mill Museum and two mills open that day. |
| Keukenhof | A spring season only: 18 March to 9 May 2027, daily 08:00 to 19:00, with the entrance closing at 18:15. Outside those weeks it is not an option at all. |
Confirm both slots before checkout
Both reviewed products are final sale, and both museums refuse entry without a booked start time. Confirm the date and both slots first, then follow the package instructions to secure the cruise departure.
Good to know
- The Rijksmuseum plus cruise package is non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled under its reviewed terms
- The reviewed Van Gogh Museum entry option is also non-refundable, and that museum releases entry online only
- The cruise voucher names the redemption location; reserve the departure time before you travel to the dock
- If the Anne Frank House matters to the trip, set its Tuesday release date before you lock this day
Fixed day confirmed
Book the two reviewed tickets, then secure the included cruise slot.

Questions people ask
Does the Rijksmuseum package include the Van Gogh Museum?
No. It includes Rijksmuseum admission and one canal cruise. The Van Gogh Museum is a separate ticket, released online only, and every visitor needs a start time to get in.
Is the I amsterdam City Card or a Museumkaart better than two tickets?
Neither covers this route. Both leave out the Van Gogh Museum and the Anne Frank House. The Total Experience card pays off on a day with three or more included museums plus GVB transport; a Museumkaart bought without a Dutch address is temporary, valid 31 days for up to 5 visits.
Can I add the Anne Frank House to this day?
Only with six weeks of notice. All tickets become available every Tuesday at 10am CEST for a visit six weeks later, they are sold online only, and each one is valid for a single named date and time.
How late can I arrive at each museum?
The Rijksmuseum runs 9am to 5pm every day, including all public holidays. The Van Gogh Museum runs 9am to 6pm, and Fridays until 9pm except on 29 May, 31 July and 25 September. The Stedelijk runs 10am to 6pm every day of the year.
Can I board the canal cruise whenever I arrive?
Do not assume that. The reviewed package requires a cruise time to be secured using its voucher instructions, and the voucher names the redemption point.
What is worth doing on a second Amsterdam day?
A’DAM Lookout admits until 9pm and is a free ferry ride from Amsterdam Central Station. Zaanse Schans is free to walk around, with most locations open 9am to 5pm. Keukenhof only exists between 18 March and 9 May 2027.
